Davidson and Juno

After finishing The Word for World is Forest, I thought that Davidson's character was similar to that of Juno from the film The Descent. In The Descent, Juno and her friends go caving in a cave that has never been explored before. Juno picked the cave out herself knowing it was a cave that had never been explored before, however does reveal to her friends that the cave is uncharted . She wants them, as a group, to be the first to discover the cave. Once inside, they become lost but Juno persists in continuing although it is dangerous. Like Davidson, Juno is a static character. Neither of them change their ways or thinking for anything or anyone, and stay so until their death (although it is not clear whether Davidson ever really dies). They sacrifice nothing for anyone else and in the end are alone in their efforts with no one to help or support them.
