Paycheck analyzed with the film and movie.

Never have I watched a movie before reading the book, or of any that I can recall right now. What's interesting with the book perspective is that the writer can add so much more information than what is seen in the movie. Technically, with a voice- over of Ben Affleck, you may possibly be able to carry the same thoughts, but the entire short story consisted of Jennings improvising to himself- this perspective adds so much more life to the characters in comparison to the novel.

If we follow the theme of how memories depict our personality and our experiences, then Dick is exploring a reality where two mental personalities exist with the same person. What's interesting is that although both characters live two different memories, they are the same person and they would still react to the same actions, hence why Jennings is able to predict all of the actions with his trinkets. So basically, this idea confirms that people, although with different experiences, would essentially be the same person. To continue our nurture vs nature conversation, this means that NATURE still plays a huge role, because this case, nurture does not exist.
